The local government system in Pakistan
Pakistan adopted the same local government system inaugurated by the British government. In the seventeen century, the term local government is used first time in the subcontinent. This system was first divided into Districts then districts were further divided into Tehsil and then tehsils into union councils Moreover, Pakistan's experience of Local Government is unique as all the local government reforms carried out in its history have been initiated by the non-representative military regimes. while The democratic regimes have undermined those reforms and have largely unwelcomed autonomous local governments. Pakistan has five provinces and each province established its local government system to devolve political, administrative, and financial responsibility and authority to local representatives.
