Ashoka, The Greatest Emperor of Mauryan Empire
Introduction
The most important mauryan empire and certainly one of the greatest was Ashoka.at first he was like other conquer the state of kalinga, he saw 100,000soldiers laying dead and other 150000people made prisoners.this upset him so much that he decided he would never go to war again and that his empire would be ruled by peace.he become a Buddhist and ruled for the benefits of all the people.
Ashoka,s reforms
- He abolished cast system.
- There were hospitals for people and animals.
- There were rest homes for old people.
- The killings of wild animals was forbidden.
- Punishment were made less severe.
- The hospital was staffed by monks who grew herbs for medicine.
- All religions were treated alike.
Conclusion
After the death of ashoka there were various weak mauryan Emperors, then the great empire collapsed.
